On October 30, “2020 Conference & Presidents’ Forum of the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium”, co-held by Beijing University of Civil Engineering & Architecture and Junia (Graduate School of Engineering) (JUNIA), was held by “cloud meeting”. More than 150 presidents, experts and scholars in 26 architectural universities in 12 countries including China, Britain, France, Russia, Poland and Armenia attended the meeting. Sun Daosheng, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of our university, and relevant personnel from the International Office attended the meeting.
Huang Kan, the Deputy Director-General of the Beijing Municipal Education Committee; Yu Haiyong, the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality; Salvatore Castiglione, the Vice President of solidarity and international relations at the Regional COUNCIL, Région Hauts-de-France expressed congratulation to the holding of the conference. Zhang Ailin, the Chairman of the BRAUIC and President of BUCEA, reported the work summary of 2020 and work plan of 2021 on behalf of the union. He also briefly introduced the work achievements of the union in 2020 and conceived the main work in 2021.
In the Presidents’ Forum, 15 Chinese and foreign university presidents from 7 countries shared their experiences in architectural education. Sun Daosheng, the President of our university, gave a wonderful report with the theme of “Mutual Learning and Mutual Benefit, to Actively Build Belt and Road Architecture Education Community”. He briefly introduced the practices and achievements of our university’s active participation in the construction of “the belt and road initiative” community in recent years, analyzed the difficulties and problems faced at present, and put forward some suggestions on the construction of “he belt and road initiative” architectural education community, requiring to fully revitalize resources, make full use of policy dividends and build a remote platform, which was unanimously recognized by the participants.
Before the conference, the Organizing Committee held the 2020 BRAUIC University Student Architectural and Structural Design Competition, and the reviewing result was announced during the conference. Change and Movement and Hidden in the City submitted by School of Architecture & Urban Planning were awarded the Second Prize and Honorable Mention in “Architectural Design”; Chasing dreams from Huizhou submitted by School of Civil Engineering was awarded the Third Prize in “Structural Design”.
